Re: Via Nano Processor
I want to be clear: I have not tested any VIA chipset recently, so please read my next comments with that in mind. In that page you linked to, there are no comments regarding Linux. The only downloads are for Windows. If VIA keeps "any" level of support for Linux, it may or may not support...

Re: Virtual Machine request
Why? I mean, do you have any specific problem with VBox? Hardware resources? Software issue? Or do you mean you are just searching for alternatives and you don't know any? Or is it that you don't know how to install it? Or maybe you are looking not for the software but for a specific VM ready to be ...

Re: Salix64 KDE 13.37 and Windows 7. Advice needed.
Reducing colors won't be a solution for me. As I said, it was just for your test . As thenktor said, 128MB for video RAM should be enough for those general (static) screen resolutions. From all your posts, I understand that you were unable to set an adequate driver for the monitor in your Win7 VM. ...

Re: Salix64 KDE 13.37 and Windows 7. Advice needed.
At least for a test, try using less colors in your win7 VM. If you are using, say, 32-bit colors, change it to 24 or 16, reboot the VM and check again if you are able to set a higher screen resolution than you were able before. About the 128MB limit for video RAM, have you searched if there is any w...

Re: Can't get past password for new installation
I guess that people interested in downloading the ISO images don't really read the rest of the page (they just click on the download link). Default User name: one Default User password: <there is no password> Default Superuser name: root Default Superuser password: live If there are additional users...

Re: Salix64 KDE 13.37 and Windows 7. Advice needed.
2148x1536 is neither 3/4 nor 10/16 (nor 9/16). Suggestions: 1._ allow even more video memory for the specific win7 VM (unless you don't have enough RAM left for your host OS); 2._ if you can't use 10/16, then use 3/4 screen proportions (remember to reboot the VM if you change screen proportions); 3....

Re: Salix64 KDE 13.37 and Windows 7. Advice needed.
Getting above 1400x1050 would be a second step in your case. The first step is to "force" Win7 to set the monitor to be compatible with 10/16 resolutions. Don't forget to reboot Win7 and re-check if the setting stays (doesn't change back to a standard monitor). Once you have the possibilit...

Re: syslinux and isolinux in salix 14.0alpha1
No need, I already have one. I downloaded an ISO of ArchLinux which do exactly that. Do you mean that you already have an example of md5sum.c32 usage from ArchLinux? Or you are referring to the use of "syslinux" instead "isolinux" paths? Anyway, I already invested the time to bu...

Re: syslinux and isolinux in salix 14.0alpha1
it works with some previous version of syslinux, not starting from 4.0. Officially, "syslinux" is a generic term since v.4.02. And the 2 examples I wrote before show the advantage over the "isolinux" path (which works for CD or for isohybrid MBR on UFD, but not for other UFD met...
