Re: Salix Live 13.1.1 Xfce and LXDE editions

Thanks for these great release guys. I have run the KDE 13.1.2, XFCE 13.1.1 and LXDE 13.1.1 live CDs and I am impressed at the consistency of their boot-up look and feel. Very professional. Each of them also correctly eject the CD upon either reboot or shutdown. There are several distros who fail th...

Re: Salix Live 13.0.1

I installed the 13.0.1 Live system to a USB drive without problems following the instructions in the getting started pdf file. I set the laptop to boot first on USB. During bootup, the process stopped with this message (not exact but something like this): "... kernel panic. Cannot find init. Yo...

Re: Salix Live 13.0.1

...useful to anyone still using Salix 13.0 series either by choice or necessity This is great news for me, as I couldn't use 13.1 series due to some Intel video chip issues resulting in random flickering of my desktop (a problem not present in 13.0.2a.) Thank you! I'll run this as soon as I finishe...

Re: Salix 13.1RC1

indeed, Intel GMA4500.

Thanks for the tip. I'll look it up one of this days when I decide to upgrade to the latest Salix version. The 13.0.2a system's very reliable. Classy. Quick. Neat. I'll probably be "forced" to install a new Salix version when it reaches 15.0 hahah LOL!

Re: Salix 13.1RC1

This is just a feedback on my previous observation on the flickering in my desktop when I first tested 13.1 RC1. Since I reverted back to version 13.0.2a, I haven't noticed any flickering or display error. Funny thing is I also briefly tried Mint 9 in this very same laptop and the flicker was there....

Re: Salix 13.1 is here!

Hello folks, You're not yet in Distrowatch as of this writing. I hope you don't mind that I emailed Mr. Ladislav Bodnar that Salix 13.1 Final is up and ready for download. I myself am downloading this official release and will give it one more spin one of these days. Thanks and more power to you! ;)

Re: Salix 13.1RC1

Firefox was the only open application during screen flickering but I'm not really sure it's firefox, heheh. I dont think I can install any other video driver in my laptop other than the default intel driver. Video playback and sound are smooth though. Weird but I am writing this after my laptop was ...

Re: Salix 13.1RC1

VLC is back in business after package update, thanks gapan. Alas, k3b 1.0.5 wont start. This after I also installed qt3 and kdebase-runtime. I noticed that only version 4.4 of the kdebase-runtime is in the package manager. Could this be the reason, missing kdebase-runtime version 3.10? I however suc...

Re: Salix 13.1RC1

I appreciate the quick response 8-)

To its credit, brasero detected my external USB DVD-Writer and successfully burned a DVD image.

Cool, now I have the option to use 3 good burning apps.
