icons disappeared

Did a frugal install of the xfce4 version. Works nicely. Made today a additional module containing all the available updates (slapt-get --update). Again : works fine but the original icons on the desktop have disappeared (replaced by a white rectangle with a small red cross inside). Anything I can d...

Re: SalixLive Xfce 14.2

Thank you. And I agree fully with a great thanks to djemos for doing all the hard work behind this "great" release! Have one question. RC3 is now released as final Found there is a small difference in 'initrd.gz'. What's exactly the difference. Do I need to replace the old 'initrd.gz' Than...

Re: Salix Live Xfce 14.2 rc2

Unfortunate timing but think you need to update the iso to the new kernel We have talked about this with gapan. And decided to go with this kernel since rc2 was ready. First of all : thank you and congratulations. Very nice iso. Allow me to tell you that I agree with laprjns. Aren't you and gapan n...

Re: Salix Live Xfce 14.2 rc1

But it creates two partitions : one - very small - vfat to boot and a bigger (ext3 formatted) with all the important files and directories. I prefer to have one and only one partittion (which is ext4 formatted) Then use the 32bit iso to create the usb. It will create one ext3 partition. Ext3 is use...

Re: Salix Live Xfce 14.2 rc1

Wish to repeat : Salix Live Xfce 14.2 rc1 is a fine iso. I appreciate your efforts. Thank you. I cannot understand what you are trying to do. Using the install_on_usb.sh script can do a frugal installation. Agree with you that 'install_on_usb.sh' is a nice script. But it creates two partitions : one...

Re: Salix Live Xfce 14.2 rc1

Salix Live Xfce 14.2 rc1 is ready. I hope no problems will be reported and this will be renamed to the final release. Thank you for providing this iso. Nice! Again : can't you provide a bootcode to tell the system where it can find the '/boot/modules' directory? So I can do a frugal install my way ...

Re: Salix Live Xfce 14.2 beta2

You need syslinux installed in your system to use install_on_usb.sh. If you run a different distro than slackware, salix, slackel then also you need syslinux installed. You are right. create an squashfs module from this directory. sudo mksquashfs directory_name module_name.slm -noappend -comp xz -b...

Re: Salix Live Xfce 14.2 beta2

It's a pity I am not able to do a frugal install as before. When booting the '/boot/modules' directory is not found and there seems to be no way to tell the system where to look for it. Do this. Plug in your usb in the usb slot on your laptop or pc. If there is no other usb device connected it will ...

Re: Salix Live Xfce 14.2 beta2

Check the md5sum of iso. And download it again. I did an rsync. So maybe you downloaded with errors. Have checked the md5sum. Have downloaded also the 686 version. Error message remains the same : Live system error - live media not detected - exiting *** If mdsum is OK then try to boot adding in th...
