Re: 32bit or 64bit?
I strongly disagree with witek. 64-bit is the way to go. I have no problems with Flash or Skype (which I rarely use). I can't speak to wine because I don't use it. What I do get is superior performance when doing anything that requires a lot of memory or stresses the CPU. This could be anything from...

Re: Remove java plugin from Firefox
Am I correct in assuming you'll package OpenJDK instead?gapan wrote:That said, java will be completely removed in the next version anyway, as Oracle does not allow free distribution of newer versions.

Re: Commotion Wireless
Actually, tor isn't a proxy either. It's an onion router. It uses a proxy (usually privoxy) but it does not contain proxy code in and of itself. https://www.torproject.org/about/overview.html.en

Re: No Network Connection available
Every distribution has a design philosophy. It may not be spelled out in writing or clearly defined but it's there. What I'm reading from Adys is a fundamental disagreement with the direction or philosophy that the Salix OS developers have chosen. Adys, you are one outside voice. So am I, FWIW. You ...

Re: Slackel current KDE 4.8.1 images are released

You'll almost certainly need to download and compile the proprietary driver from the Realtek site: http://www.realtek.com.tw/Downloads/dow ... Down=false

Re: Alternative network manager?
Um... I use wicd with open (unsecured) connections on a regular basis and there is no problem. Perhaps you can post some specifics about your setup and configuration and we can sort it out. In my experience wicd is solid and network manager (the app you asked for) is a buggy mess from hell.

Re: Salix MATE 13.37beta1
Mimosa is correct. It was originally spelled MATÉ, but I see the accent is missing from the new website.
