Re: Salix LXDE 13.37-coexist with ratpoison?
Great news, I've been waiting for this 13.37 release. The ratpoison 13.37 one also interested me so I grabbed it; didn't really play with that since it is an installer, right? Would it work for me to grab the rp pkg from the repo and use that as an alternate wm alongside my lxde? I'd be getting some...

Re: Other Slackware based distros
Let's put things back in context, this thread was opened 2 years ago and had some meaning & purpose then, when we first got started with Salix and were developing our very first ISO. And at that time, yes, we did learn and 'borrowed' a couple things and ideas here and there and incorporated som...

Re: Other Slackware based distros
Other Slackware based distros we could learn something from: kongoni absolutelinux ----- Been dabbling lately with Absolute, mainly because some say it works well with older machines. Of course that's not the maintainer's objective; he says he uses it for everything he does. Still I found the softw...

Re: Other Slackware based distros
I still find Wolvix to be an extremely strong contender - they have a great software selection - but my enthusiasm is partly based on their design. It looks cool, IMO. ----- Wolvix was quite appealing for me also; too bad it went defunct recently. As you say, it has a very sharp-looking design. Ano...

Re: Salix OS Leafs Wallpaper
I have changed a couple of things - made the highlights lighter, removed the text and make the leafs fly further away :) [URL disallowed] Give some comments ----- Okay Kristho, I see I came to be using Salix well after you even offered this. I really like the appearance though. (Might be that linge...

Re: midori hostname fail on dialup
Thanks, that got me looking in the right place, and I blundered through the rest. Midori does not figure into it at all; this became apparent when slapt-get --update choked, again owing to hostname not resolved. I'd already posted the forum before that attempt. When I originally worked through the p...

midori hostname fail on dialup
I'm running Salix lxde after installing from the v13.1.1 live CD. For connectivity dialup is my option, and got that going as expected with pppsetup. Connects and pings the the remote IP fine and 127.0.0.1 fine. This lxde bundle has the Midori v0.2.7 browser. I find this will not load any pages over...
