firefox 78.0esr
Re: firefox 78.0esr
I just uploaded firefox 78.1.0esr to the 14.2 and 14.1 repos, so everyone should get those when mirrors sync.
Re: firefox 78.0esr
Got it today. Thank you gapan.
A pleasant detail in this forum: several people pick a picture of their pet as their avatar. Who am I to do otherwise?
Re: firefox 78.0esr
At some point I got an annoying message about "Firefox new features" which could conceivably be turned off in the build?
Other than that, it has continued to perform well. I particularly like the password generation feature.
EDIT
Also, by default, I can't remember whether earlier Firefox packages have allowed "studies" and collecting "technical and interaction data".

Re: firefox 78.0esr
gapan, I completely concur with regard to avoiding Chromium et al.
Studies and send data was still enabled when I only just now belatedly upgraded from the 68.* package. When the next package is made, perhaps unallow everything in the Firefox Data Collection and Use area?
Tip: For those, like me, that find some of the new features undesirable e.g. address bar enlarging, I found this helpful:

Re: firefox 78.0esr
Thanks gapan, It even works on Slackware 14.1. I had to install apulse to get sound working. So probably it's also working on salix 14.1. Thanks again!
edit:
as in I installed your mozilla-firefox-78.7.1esr-x86_64-1gv.txz package on slackware 14.1
