Hi all,
small problem at my Salix XFCE 13.1.Everytime started, I see falling down free size of HDD ( cca 5MB eated every session ).Now I have 200Meg and originally it was 1Giga. I don't know what and where occupyies my drive.
Second touched question - for KDE installed is Kdirstat - for visual control of size of folders; and for XFCE is which one application usable with the same effect ??( for windoze is Windirstat+SequoiaView )

Lots of options here. Simplest one is just use the du command from a terminal.

There is also gdmap available in sourcery/slapt-src if you want a gtk app and also ncdu if you want an ncurses one.

As I wrote, you can find them in sourcery. Look in the system menu.

Now I see you have 13.1. There is no sourcery in 13.1. You can use slapt-src though.

Code: Select all

# slapt-src -u
# slapt-src -i gdmap

Checking files doesn't match !

Gdmap shows all files as 3.23Gig under / folder.
Founded file kcore 1Gig in proc folder, daily changed ! Sum is 4,23Gig then.
System monitor shows all Salix disk space correctly as 5,16Gig, as formatted. That means unknown difference cca 800Meg of space.( Swap is 275 Meg, there is no problem ). Shown in previous pictures, see up.
Salix wiki says nothing about kcore keyword, BTW.
So, does Salix make any hidden files, or anything else, what can explains this difference ??

Don't get paranoid. The kcore file is a virtual file, equal to the amount of RAM you have. It doesn't really exist.
