[Salix32 XFCE 13.37] Remove Orage
Re: [Salix32 XFCE 13.37] Remove Orage
Orage is part of the xfce package.
Re: [Salix32 XFCE 13.37] Remove Orage
that means it's not removable ? Hm .. had no problems removing Orage on XUbuntu & Aptosid XFCE ..thenktor wrote:Orage is part of the xfce package.
Re: [Salix32 XFCE 13.37] Remove Orage
Slackware (and thus Salix) consolidates some things into larger combined packages. So xfwm4 for instance is part of the xfce package, whereas it would have its own package in Debian/Ubuntu.

What's the problem if you cannot remove Orage? Just don't use it. And don't say it eats up 500 kb of your expensive hard disk space
Re: [Salix32 XFCE 13.37] Remove Orage
*lol* .. basically you're right .. but if I replace or don't use applications I remove the obsolete .. it's lived minimalism ..thenktor wrote:What's the problem if you cannot remove Orage? Just don't use it. And don't say it eats up 500 kb of your expensive hard disk space

You can remove XFCE, and install it again...
Make a session with KDE before, to switch after, of course...

You can remove the parts of the xfce package you don't want, e.g. the parts related to orage. If you don't delete anything wrong, this is perfectly fine with the package management. Reinstalling or upgrading the package restores the files again.
Look at /var/log/packages to determine the files of the xfce package, that you don't want.

XFCE (hope we get an update to 4.8 soon) rocks and will rock more in future after Linus switched to it
