Re: Salix 13.1.1 has been released!
Greeting,,
i am new to Linux.
i just installed this OS to an old compaq computer.
as i am new, i need some navigation help.
as of now i installed the codec so i can play normal type of movie files.
the sun jre preloaded also help me a lot to save time looking for and installing.
i need to view pdf document , could someone let me know which pdf viewer is recommended?
or rather, when i click pdf file, it will just open up viewer without having to save file and open application.
PS. i tried to install the same Salix 13.1.1 CD to another old laptop but there is a problem on error installing some files. i have not figure out what is wrong yet. will try again, hope it will work also.
Edit: installed also to old laptop, that has intel celeron 1.8G CPU, 800M RAM.
i install the codec using the one click Multimedia> install multimedia codecs,
one issue that is strange, the colour is substantially out when playing movie files with either Parole Media player, or vlc player ( i installed it just to compare).
Strange also the same movie, when played using Youtube, is alright on its colour.
could someone help me on what to do to get the movie colour back to normal?
thanks much for help and this nice OS that is fast..

Evince is included in Salix 13.1.1 & should be working out of the box. Doesn't it?wayne wrote:i need to view pdf document , could someone let me know which pdf viewer is recommended
What really matters is where you are going, not where you come from.
Re: Salix 13.1.1 has been released!

is there a shortcut way to just click and open it?
Re: Salix 13.1.1 has been released!
If I understand well, you mean when you click a PDF file in the firefox browser ?
Then you just need to say "open with an application" and browse the files to say open with "/usr/bin/evince" and "save preference". I'm not exactly sure about the names, but that's the idea.

Is a Hungarian download page really needed? We've already removed most translated download and news pages, because it is hard to keep them up to date and nobody of the devs will notice an outdated one.Polesz wrote:Hungarian download page edits.
