Localisation for depfinder

Postby Shador » 14. Sep 2009, 18:24

Thought this would be interesting:

Quax wrote:Hi all,

as I will be using depfinder instead of requiredbuilder for Lin2Go and fluxflux, I have made some modification to get it localizable.
You will need msgfmt to install the patched version.

As the board attachment quota has been reached, please find the patch for depfinder-1.0.2 at:
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/downloa ... id=2849884

As usual you'll find the package and module at live-modules.org.

If someone asked me which tool should we localize next, depfinder would be nowhere in the list. :D

Really, all depfinder has is the --help message and exactly 3 different error messages, so nothing is normally being output that would need localization.

Other than that, of course it is very easy to add localization support for depfinder, but I'm wondering why that guy didn't contact me... I'll probably add it, but it's certainly not a priority.

My opinion : why not but as Gapan said I don't find this a priority.
Now, the patch is here, I've read it and it could be applied in 2 minutes :)

But...I don't find this usefull AT ALL. Who use depfinder ? Packagers ? Packagers cannot do their work if they cannot read english. So...useless.

He probably did not even know about you, because otherwise he wouldn't have posted it on the Zenwalk forum. :)
Nobody could have added it there. But you mustn't tell me that it's not usefull. It's not my patch. I just thought you might want to know about patches for depfinder floating around.

I wouldn't say it's completely useless. If someone wanted to create a system primarily aimed for example to French or German users, he would want every aspect of the system translated, and in any case some people always prefer to have everything in their own language, so it has its uses. I'll add it sometime during the next days.

Heh :D

OK, I never saw that until now, I never use that SF functionality.

depfinder says the best way to get help with its software is by emailing its project administrators.

Sorry if it seemed that I was jumping on you.

And welcome Quax! :)
