How is it too heavy? Is it just because everything is green, or because it's too light/dark, please try to explain it

I think becaue everything is more or less a single color and perhaps a bit to dark, too. It somehow does not look fresh and inviting.

Are you using Inkscape? If so, could you post the link to the svg? If you don't mind I'd like to play with it too & experiment with different shade of green & whirls & post them back here.

I kinda agree with you thenktor,
maybe mixing some other colors for a shading effect or something will make it more interesting

I have changed a couple of things - made the highlights lighter, removed the text and make the leafs fly further away

Okay Kristho, I see I came to be using Salix well after you even offered this. I really like the appearance though. (Might be that lingering fondness for Linux Mint?) Looks like a well-fitting match to the banner heading this forum as well...
