What do you have Salix installed on

Postby roccity » 28. Oct 2009, 02:25

I have just installed Salix on my Toshiba L300 with 1.5 GB of ram 120 Gb HD and intel
celeron 550 2Ghz and intel 3d gm965 laptop.

I have run slackware for about 2 years and I have tried Zenwalk but saw that it didn't seem to be for me. I did like the ideas but not the feel of it. I hope to help with this project in some way. Salix seems to be a great choice with its ease of use and gslapt or slapt-get for the package manager. I have tried Vector as well but there is something about it that Im' npt sure about. Don't know guess that is the power of choice.
It's only bad when you have to reinstall or format.

Currently, my desktop PC at home:
o Intel Core2Duo 2,8 GHz, 4 GB RAM, nVidia Corporation C73 [GeForce 7100 / nForce 630i] (rev a2)

In the past:
o Medion Akoya mini E1210 Netbook (Atom N270 1,6 GHz, 2GB RAM, GPU dunno) - mostly similiar to MSI Wind U100 Netbook, but with Medion branding and no bluetooth onboard.

Future plans:
o Hopefully on an Acer Aspire One 751 - Currently hard disk is not detected at all by the standard slackware kernel in installation iso. But I will investigate in this (thanks thenktor and others for initial ideas to help). So, a "würg-around" solution was found to use Ubuntu 9.10 Netbook Remix till problems are solved ...
=> GIVEN UP, No Chance! Hardware is really crap (Poulsbo...)

o Foxconn 945GZ7MC-KS2H, Intel Core2 Duo E6400 2x 2.13GHz S775 Tray, 2 GB RAM - This should get to be a server / multimedia base for streaming and a little home file server and stuff :) .

Acer Aspire 1360.

When I get around to it I'll install it on my eeepc900 which currently has Absolute Linux on it.

64-bit Athlon 3500 dual-core with 2Gig RAM, nVidia graphics and 'tiny' 320 gig disk, shared with Vista Home Premium, which I need for some propietory program I use at the moment.
