after getting cairo-dock installed it seems it doesn't quite render correctly. I tried using color gradients for the background but it draws random striations in the background. perhaps it doesn't like xfce's compositing?

How do I install the cairo-dock plugins? After running cairo, it mention the plugins wasn't installed and best to cancel. I'm not figuring it out.

Thnx.

Did you try to install cairo-dock-plugins with slapt-src/sourcery?

No I didn't but after doing it, I have it working. I'm new to using slapt-get/src, so bare with me as I learn it while using Salix. So if an app is not in the respository it's a good idea to try the source repository?

Thanks again.

I'm still having some issues with cairo-dock. sometimes when I open Firefox I get garbage drawn under cairo-dock. also, sometimes some of the icons disappear until I mouse over them a few times. I know some distros have a package that is suppose to improve integration of cairo-dock into XFCE but I don't see that as available or know exactly what it does.

any ideas what might be causing this?
thanks.

I think I found the problem. Apparently the cairo-dock that was launching was the GLX-dock which doesn't work so well for whatever reason. The cairo-dock (no opengl) seems fine.
