Good morning,
As a fan of Salix 13.0.2a I welcomed the new 13.37 version and eagerly installed it in my laptop. It installed without any problems, right up to the log-in screen, after which, when the xfce desktop loads, the backlight of my LCD screen turned off. I am sure of this since I could still make out the new desktop background, icons and xcfe menu (very nice by the way) by lighting it up with a reading lamp.
There is a keyboard shortcut which can turn off and on my laptop. I did that too and noticed that the backlight briefly turned on but turned off again. Is this a kernel issue which affects only particular model of laptops? Is there a fix? (I notice the same behavior running a Mint 11 live dvd in this very laptop) As of now, I have 13.0.2a on my laptop but I really dig the new desktop of 13.37.
Laptop Specs:
Acer Aspire 4736z
T4200, Intel GMA 4500M
Bluetooth and Wifi (forgot brands)
2GB DDR3, 250GBHD
Dual booting WinXP and Salix OS 13.0.2a
Thank you.

Re: Dark Screen - Turned off LCD Backlight in 13.37
Seems there is no fix yet. I did some workaround though.
I installed 13.37 in my desktop, where it installed without issues, copied its boot salix bitmap and backgrounds to my laptop and applied them to 13.0.2a. Fantastic, heheh
By the way, thanks for still supporting 13.0.2a. Just this morning I got an update to Opera.
Of course, nothing still beats k3b 1.0.5 found only in 13.0.2a.

Re: Dark Screen - Turned off LCD Backlight in 13.37
Can you try removing the xfce4-power-manager package?
Re: Dark Screen - Turned off LCD Backlight in 13.37
at this time, I have 13.0.2a.
I will try that fix when I feel itchy enough to reinstall 13.37.
thanks a lot!
