Workaround for freezing of Broadcom wifi

Postby maspai » 10. Jul 2012, 05:51

I'm not sure where to put this post. I put this here because this is suggestion for users who have freeze problem with Broadcom wifi, just like my Acer Aspire One 522 netbook with Broadcom 4312/4313 (I'm not sure :D).
The workaround is just adding " ssb.blacklist=1" in kernel parameter in /etc/lilo.conf file, in "append" line. For example, mine is:
Code: Select all
append="quiet vt.default_utf8=1 ssb.blacklist=1"

I found this in http://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20100823#feature. Hopefully this can help you who have same problem with me :).
sorry for my noob-ness guys, i'm new in linux and salix.

Shador's new kernel might fix this issue as well as the problem you're having with the weird display after logging out of MATE.
