Salix Live KDE 13.1.1 Alpha1 available for testing

Post by Akuna »

This is a quick mop up, based on the Beta 5 standard iso prepared by Djemos:
http://www.salixos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1371

The installer is not operational yet. This is for initial testing, comments & suggestions.

The size is about 728 MB so this alpha won't fit in a CD-ROM, but can be tested in VBox or a USB key.

Much pruning still needs to be done if we want to include an office suite & other missing apps while still fitting in a regular CD-ROM size. So your suggestions on how to accomplish this will be most welcome.

That is nice. But LiveCD compression is not as efficient as packages' compression, so we might still be a bit overboard.

The only reason the installer is not operational yet is that I didn't include the standard kernel in the iso.

Now you understand what I meant by rough draft & why this version is dubbed alpha. ;)

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. Again, because of place constraint I was not able to include everything. What would actually be useful is if you could tell me if everything that is included actually works correctly. And if there is anything included that we could do without so that we can add the important stuff that is still missing.

Tx ;)

Alpha2 KDE Live version which is a complete replica of the standard KDE beta 7 is ready & uploading.
This version is complete & holds the standard kernel as well for installation purpose. It only weighs 713 MB, still a little too big to fit in a CD-ROM, but not that much. We should be able to trim it a bit further.
I'll post the link when the upload is completed.
