glibc-solibs

Post by imag1narynumber »

There's a few packages I want to install, and they all require glibc-solibs, which is apparently "locked". I'm assuming it's locked for good reason. Is there something I can do that will allow me to install these without eating my hamster or engulfing me in a ball of flame?

These packages require glibc OR glibc-solibs, so you can install them without problems. Shouldn't be a problem for slapt-get.

Which packages are these? There are no packages in our repository or in our slackware-with-dependencies repository that reference glibc-solibs directly. In any case, as thenktor pointed out, the dependency should be "glibc|glibc-solibs", marking that either one can be used, as both packages include exactly the same libraries.

Hmm, that's right. The glibc-solibs package normally is not installed, so it should not be listed in dep files.

Blender requires openal-soft, which requires glibc-solibs
Fontmatrix requires fontforge, which requires glibc-solibs
Gnome-Do requires mono, which requires glibc-solibs
Songbird requires gconf, which requires glibc-solibs
and scribus requires glibc-solibs

Is there a way that I can manually set the dependencies to point to glibc?

Since we don't have any of those packages in our repositories, it's safe to assume that you're using another source to get them. Whoever made them, should really replace the "glibc-solibs" in the dependency list with "glibc|glibc-solibs", stating that either glibc or glibc-solibs can be installed.

The easiest thing you can do is actually install glibc-solibs. It won't cause any trouble, just a package that is not needed at all in your PC. Or you could use slapt-get with the --ignore-dep option.

Yes, I believe it's off of slacky.eu.

I've attempted to install gnome-do and songbird with --ignore-dep. Gnome-do starts, but if I click "preferences", it disappears. And Songbird doesn't even start.

You should direct your queries to slacky.eu then. Nothing we can do here about their packages.
