Cannot delete the link to the home folder on the desktop

I know the thread is old and that the OP's problem was solved but:
If you want to get rid of the 'My documents' icon (clean desktop), just open pcmanfm, go to Edit > Preferences > Desktop and untick the box "Manage the desktop and show file icons".

I did but when I reboot I have not wallpaper and Pcmanfm is open and the desktop is only openbox...

When I tick the box "Manage the desktop and show file icons" my wallpaper appear.
