Agreed and, even more to the point in this case, the error log would confirm whether a drive error occurred at the time when files were lost. As a lazy Slacker I really like GSmartControl.thenktor wrote:At least run a long test before checking the output...

Re: gtkpod: What could POSSIBLY go wrong?
Seriously, the part I had trouble remembering was, I can think? How ironic, though that did prove my point about needing sleep. And after solving a few more puzzle pieces, that's my situation again: will tackle the rest in the morning. Great news though: apparently djemos has been read...

Re: gtkpod: What could POSSIBLY go wrong?
Thanks, your good wishes may have helped: I devised a working symlink after getting some sleep. Then it turned out that djemos had previously posted about the issue, along with a similar solution, on his Slackel website. It was hidden in plain sight, right on the front page. :-| So I've asked...
Re: Wiped Out
There may have been a misunderstanding, or at least I hope so, as I replied to your post on the Slackel forum. I apologize in advance for any misunderstandings on my part: While I do run the same distros which you lost, Slackel Openbox and Salix Fluxbox 13.37, I have yet to lose any data on either o...

Re: gtkpod: What could POSSIBLY go wrong?
Thanks again. Found a binary for Clementine version 1.0.1, though podcast support came later, with version 1.1. Slackel has a customized Slackbuild for version 1.1.1, so I downloaded that... It has several dependencies, some of which may be available as binaries, so will sort that out in the morning...

Re: gtkpod: What could POSSIBLY go wrong?
Thanks, will definitely have to check that out later! Taking a break first for dessert  Meanwhile, if you still happen to be online, do you recall whether Clementine is written in C# / Mono? That might have been yet another reason why I had previously bypassed it. It's just a preference though...

Re: gtkpod: What could POSSIBLY go wrong?
Thanks hakerdefo. While Clementine was "inspired by" Amarok 1.4, it lacked support for iPods the last time I checked. Either that, or Clementine was still missing support for podcasts. Or both. I may be confusing one or the other feature with Amarok 2.x, which lacked support for both iPods...

Re: My new salix 14.0
Actually after posting my very unprofessional version, I noticed that GRITAR is moderator of the Greek sub-forum here. Perhaps his post was misplaced, or...

Re: My new salix 14.0
Can someone do better than this Google Translate version of the above? "Friends of Salix hello. Just yesterday, after much thought I installed on my laptop (the palioseira hp compaq nx6110) the new version 14.0. I after much thought, because until now I had the previous 13.37 and I was madly ha...

gtkpod: What could POSSIBLY go wrong?
The latest gtkpod requires anjuta, which in turn requires vte3. So far this seems to be the most promising build, though I'm concerned about compatibility: < http://slackblogs.blogspot.com/2012/10/new-gtkpod-slackbuild.html > As background, I'd like to eliminate use of Windows for iTunes. Currently ...
