Re: More xfce4 panel plugins
If you would like to use xfce4-keyboard-switcher for switching between keyboard layouts, than use the xfce4-xkb-plugin which is in the Salix repo. Until the Salix team decides whether salix needs the xfce4-mount-plugin as a binary package you can install it with sourcery (Menu->System->Sourcery Slac...

Re: Gigolo problem
Just a quick note on the dbus timeout probem: I've upgraded gnome-keyring, libgnome-keyring to version 3.0.3, and there are no more dbus errors. Note, that I have not checked if there are any side effects of this upgrade... (but I don't see any problems on my machine. but far as I know I'm not using...

Re: Salix Xfce 13.37beta2 is ready
Installed without a problem on an Asus motherboard with an nvidia MCP78S [GeForce 8200] chipset, and with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ processor. One thing I would like to see in the installer is the ability to install Salix to encrypted partitions. Slackware can do it (see README_CRYPT.TXT on Slackwar...

Re: how to install avahi for the KDE build?
Hi! I hope it helps: While I didn't try its functionality, I was able to build it with the following process: With backporting from salix-current * go to some salix mirror which contains the 'current' repo also, such as ftp://ftp.slackware.org.uk/salix * go to i486/current/source/l/libdaemon, downlo...

Yes I know and already used both. Nice tools.gapan wrote: If you don't already know it, your SlackBuilds are already available in Salix through slapt-src (and in the near future through Sourcery - available in current repos now), along with every other SlackBuild from SBo.

Hello from a new user
Hello, My name is Ferenc, I'm 42 years old, living in Hungary. I'm a long time linux and slackware user, using linux exclusively at home and at work also. I'm using Salix more then a month now, and I'm really impressed. I have some slackware packages at slackbuilds.org, I'm planning to port them to ...

I've run it a few minutes, basically it seems to work. I will test it in the evening.

Re: Is GNOME a possibility?
OK, Where we can find the packages? :) While I really like xfce, my problem with it, that it has only 3-4 developers working in their spare-time, it is evolving really slowly, while gnome has a strong background. In my opinion an almost minimal gnome desktop is almost equals to a full featured xfce ...
