Re: syslinux and isolinux in salix 14.0alpha1
@ gapan , I suggested this when the alpha came out, and I sent the info to JRD immediately as requested. ISTM this was already _then_ too late. I understand the Salix Team has enough to take care about, but all I can do is suggest (when I think it is still in time and appropriate) or report. I'm not...

updating boot info script
The repositories include the boot info script package, currently version 0.61. The package is basically a read-only script (except for the optional report, a simple text file that by default doesn't even overwrite anything) to collect some info about the boot system for troubleshooting purposes. The...

Re: Diving in. Which desktop?
this isn't really a 'problem' but there's no 'installation issues' subforum so I can't think of a better place for it. This should had been posted in "Misc" then. I'll just gowith Xfce, hope it's ver. 4.10. Salix follows Slackware, thus Xfce 4.10 will be included in the next Salix 14.0 Xf...

Re: burncenter
In a broader context (not just Salix typical "home" user),... _ The price of optical media and USB drives against income varies a lot. _ Other users might say that audio CDs are useless now with MP3 players, smartphones and other alternatives. _ Older hardware may easily welcome CD drives ...

Re: Torrent error for Salix Xfce 14.0beta1
I think I will give up linuxtracker for the next time and add another open one. I don't know if linuxtracker "needs" to be dropped. The most important thing regarding torrents is to publish the little .torrent file and the MAGNET code immediately at the same time the first announcement is...

Re: Salix Xfce 14.0beta1
Should all bug reports for the beta be posted in this thread? Or should we start to create individual posts under Problems or Bugs ? I would say that if the report is simple and the resolution is direct (or at least will be easily known or understood by Salix Team), then it would be OK to just repo...

Re: Salix Xfce 14.0beta1
LibreOffice 3.6.2 was released. With 3.5.x and 3.6.x having so many bug fixes, I hope the final Salix 14.0 will include the most stable LibreOffice available at that moment (or better yet IMHO, don't have ANY such amount of MB already installed; instead have the <latest stable> version easily availa...

Re: Salix Xfce 14.0beta1
Pressing space moved the selection from "Select" to "Continue". You are right in the sense that the "Continue" label is not exactly descriptive of what happens. I've changed it to "Cancel" in git. OK, the "Cancel" explains the loop. Now, how the mou...

Re: Salix Xfce 14.0beta1
Since there is still no hardware requirements general guidelines for Salix, I think at least some mention about PAE should be made. Processors have some kind of support (or at least compatibility) for SMP since some 486, but the SMP kernel in Salix 14.0 is also requesting PAE (as Slackware does, so ...

Re: Salix Xfce 14.0beta1
That behaviour is normal. I suspect the config file is only generated once everything has been set by the user in the GUI, so till then, there is nothing to edit. But the same behavior is seen again, after rebooting, after logging in, after launching LiloSetup more than once. So this is not "j...
