@colebass, I rooted my galaxy s5 yesterday using heimdall CLI but only after recompiling with code change as per turboyz's post on this thread:https://github.com/Benjamin-Dobell/Heimdall/issues/348

I just had a look and I see now that not only did the kernel change in current but in stable as well, my bad. So now I have to upgrade the whole kernel kit and kaboodle.. hmm...... and all because I want to run Odin on XP (which requires me to run vbox) so I can hose my galaxy S5 to install Cyanogen...

Just in follow up, I removed the extension pack for Vbox 4.1.0, uninstalled 4.1.0 and then installed the previous version, 4.0.10 with extension pack.

There is no kernel panic at shutdown and the box turns off

I just did the exact same install of Vbox 4.1.0 and the corresponding extension pack on a vanilla install of slack 13.37 on another partition in the same box.
