Re: My Salix Wallpapers

I knew it!!!!! Desktop > Folder view settings > Wallpapers. I know about folder view, just forgot that's where the wallpapers are. :^# Sheeesh! But thanks for reminding me. Now somebody else will see this and not embarrass him/herself with this same slip of the mind :). In faith, Dave Viva Texas For...

Re: My Salix Wallpapers

Cowboy, my bad and I apologize. Actually, I'm using KDE in Salix and I should have specified that. I've used Xfce from time to time, but KDE seems to be my go-to desktop environment. I'm also running EasyPeasy, Mepis MintDebian, SalineOS, Zorin, Debian, Chakra, Aptosid, Netrunner, and PC-BSD in VB c...

Re: My Salix Wallpapers

I feel stupid for asking this question, but how do I change wallpapers in Salix 13.1.2? I've installed Salix in Virtualbox 3.2.12 (PCLinuxOS host) and would dearly like to change the default wallpaper to something else. I've been through the Control Panel but have missed the part where the wallpaper...

Re: Privoxy? (an ad blocker)

Who is my email provider? That's just a little complicated: I use a forwarder located at cjb.net, and my current ISP and email provider is Century Tel (centurytel.net). I use the forwarder so that my email address doesn't change when I move or travel; I just re-do my account on the forwarder to poin...

Re: Privoxy? (an ad blocker)

Shapor:

Salix likes my new email address, or my new address likes Salix, dunno which. But I changed my address and this time received the activation email.

Re: Privoxy? (an ad blocker)

Duncan_Idaho: Thanks!!! Privoxy is installed and working and Opera looks sooooooo much better now. It still would be good to see Privoxy in Salix' own repository. Shador: Dunno. I do get a few spams, and I get other emails to that mailbox. Why would my ISP pick on Salix? I'll try using an alternate ...

Re: Privoxy? (an ad blocker)

Gapan, thanks for your responses. 1) I don't have a spam folder; in fact, I don't use a spam filter . I am invisible enough that I only get one to three spams a day and so everything goes through my in box. I've watched, but nothing from Salix has come through. My email client is Kmail running in PC...

Re: Privoxy? (an ad blocker)

I use Opera mostly, but also Firefox, Chrome, and Dillo, and any other new ones I see. I need one ad blocker which works for all of them. Privoxy intercepts ads for any browser, and isn't limited to one browser as is the AdBlocker extension for Firefox. It even works for Internet Explorer - if one i...

Privoxy? (an ad blocker)

Could y'all consider putting Privoxy in your repository? Privoxy intercepts ads before they appear in your browser, and thereby speeds up web surfing and makes accessed web pages look much nicer. It makes surfing much more pleasant. So, please please?? I did find a privoxy package at slacklinux.dark...
