Re: Cannot start x after upgrade to 14.0
You could also download the most recent kernel from Slack-Current and install it manually. Grab the source and the headers for it as well just to be sure, and of course do not forget to install the modules and firmware packages. Apart from that my only other suggestion would be to install proprietar...

Re: wifi WICD fails
Actually, Salix recognized both the windows drivers, but one of the wifi interfaces was unable to catch signals. I dont know why. I noticed that ndiswrapper liked Vista driver, not XP driver. You don't need ndiswrapper or Windows drivers. What you need is NM, it will use your linux drivers and give...

Re: wifi WICD fails
What the hell for wicd does not work? I hv installed network manager. How can i use network manager applet instead of wicd? is it related to the firewall? Use NetworkManager, that will probably solve your connection problems. Why does Wicd not work? No idea, but there seem to be types of networks i...

Re: Just completed upgrading
Btw, my problem with the rt2870/3070 chip was that it saw networks in Wicd but was unable to connect to an encrypted network. Request for the forum
One request to cancel the inconvenient rule of not being allowed to post URL's until a user has posted at least 3 times. I understand this is to protect against spam but has the drawback if user has registered to ask for help in the first place he is unable to reference solutions he tried or is refe...

Just completed upgrading
Hi all, Not a problem really, just wanted to say that I've been upgrading this my original Salix (XFCE) install now since 13.0.2 was released. Not a man feat, both Ubuntu and Debian never managed this on the same PC, admittedly I haven't tried them on this machine any more since 2009. I went to 13.1...
