Re: Salix 14.0.1 Xfce Review
When reading “reviews”, I usually take them as just one experience and nothing serious or “definitive”. Additionally, users already having some experience with the matter in question (in this case, Salix) usually won't be surprised. Reviews of Linux distros are frequently just a potential tease and ...

Re: grub 2 sees but won't boot salix on dual boot Ubuntu/Sal
Before updating grub, since you are booting from a different media you would need to mount your relevant partitions and chroot, before grub-update. That's why it fails to boot your installed OS. Re: USB Stick not booting iso file
After that misshap all partions and directories of that drive could be accessed. Only on reboot it gave kernel panic. That's because most of the data is still there. If you executed dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdX bs=512 count=4096 then only the first 2048KB of sd X was zeroed out. That's the first 409...

Re: Salix Xfce 14.0
Congrats to The Salix Team and community contributors. @ gapan , Since the i486 support is not included in the ISO but it is still possible, maybe some relatively-small archive (compared to the full ISO size) could be added for download from sf.net. Then an interested user could download that archiv...

Re: How do I create the persistent file on a live USB pendri
@ phayz , I am a little bit confused by your description. First, when you "dd" the ISO to your UFD, you can have a persistence in the UFD, but not in the same partition. The partition created by dd is read-only (as the optical media where you would burn the ISO image). So adding a second w...

Re: Salix Xfce 14.0RC3
In case someone wants to try it (and have the necessary knowledge), GStreamer released a new bug-fix version this week: http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/.
It may or may not solve some of the reported issues.

Re: Salix Xfce 14.0RC1
(IMHO, a script to download the "latest stable" and install it should be better than adding a specific version in the ISO image, but since I don't have the knowledge to actually write such script...) That script is called an SLKBUILD file and it's right into your /usr/src/libreoffice-$pkg...

Re: Salix Xfce 14.0RC1
Currently, LibreOffice 3.5.7 is stated as "the stable version" in their website. Note that normally the last version is X.Y.6 (3.5.6 in this case), but so many bugfixes were sent that 3.5.7 was added. Excellent! In about two weeks from now, LibreOffice 3.6.3 is supposed to get out. For 3.6...

Re: Salix Xfce 14.0RC1
_ The README file includes examples for 13.1. Maybe it's time to update them? _ The CHECKSUMS.md5 file seems incorrect (but I could be wrong). The paths start with "./iso/". About i486 / i686, is there any chance you could provide a diff download (once the final release is out)? An interes...
