Salix 14.2 and Exaile
Is exaile still being included in the upcoming Salix 14.2? The reason I ask is that it appears that it is disappearing from the newer debian-based distros (IIRC, it's a dependency that is not longer being supported more that a exaile issue).

Re: Firefox memory leak in 14.1
Just a side note... Upgraded Firefox, started the app, everything was fine. Closed app, deleted existing .mozilla (to get a clean start with a new ESR) and restarted FF, did not start. It did however make a new .mozilla. I tried to re-start Firefox with the new .mozilla and it came up with a "R...

Re: Vote for Patrick or AlienBob as Linux person of the year
Why anyone around here here would vote for Mark Shuttleworth is beyond me, but....gaucho wrote:...someone who, in certain circumstances, has been referred to by certain other individuals, in certain other distros' communities, as being a BDFL.

Re: xfce start button
...is there a menu editor entry under system or settings? I seem to dimly remember a gui for menu editing...one the barely worked, sometimes, in some distros. The old-fashioned, hand edited way noted above always worked much better :) Most xfce distros nowadays appear to be moving to Whisker Menu a...

Re: xfce start button
If by Start Button you mean the applications menu (in the upper left, on the panel), then I'd start here: https://wiki.xfce.org/howto/customize-menujpg153 wrote:I am still trying to find out which file I need to modify to change the entries under the start button...

Re: Thunderbird
I would say little, if any, effect, as claws is the default mail reader. But gapan, et al. could answer officially. That said, I will personally be disappointed, if and when.tharpa wrote:How does Mozilla's announcement that Thunderbird will no longer be maintained affect Salix, if at all?

Re: Keeping Salix Alive
Current was changed from the 3.18 to 4.1 August, so they are now going to go backward to 3.18 for a 14.2 release? I could see it happening...I seem to remember a cycle or two ago when PV wanted to use kernel X.X but couldn't make it work to his satisfaction so he backtracked to kernel X.X-Y. Plus, ...

Re: Keeping Salix Alive
Ah, more information...thanks. I could have sworn I read somewhere that 4.1 was already an LTS, but probably misremembered a "future LTS" as "LTS". But its all BS at this point because only PV and the inner team know for sure Personally, I think the reason that PV, et al. are so ...
